I know I'm a good flatmate because I clean up after myself, some houses even after other people. I also dont mind gettimg the headphones on and sweeping/vacuuming/mopping the floors. I am no one's mother just like you're not mine. Common sense and logic should Prevail.
Food sharing and furniture
I would highly vote for arranging my own food assuming I'll have my own spot in the fridge amd pantry. My diet is extremely simplle, WeetBix for brealfast, Vegemite and Cheese on Toast after work or on weelemds. Thats mostly it. Cheap too.
