About this person
Hey potential future housemate! I'm Nick, a 39 year old working full time as a video editor in the film and tv industry. I grew up in Sydney, spent a fair bit of time travelling and working overseas, but fell in love with Melbourne which I've now called home for the last 5 years. I'm single atm and no kids.
I've been living by myself in the Ascot Vale area for the last 4 years, which I've loved, but just ended a lease and need to find somewhere to live from now until around April 2025, when I will be most likely moving into a new permanent place.
I definitely value time spent alone and understand people's privacy and space, but I also don't want to live in a house of strangers - nothing worse than feeling like a stranger in your own home, so I'd like to make friends and be comfortable with the people I live with and it would be good to share the occasional drink/story/walk/movie/trip to the pub.
I enjoy music, gigs, movies, running (slowly!), being outdoors, travelling, games, people, and all the other good things. I'm looking for a new hobby or two if anyone wants to share something they love doing.
I'm a nice normal housemate - open minded and considerate, non-judgmental, and clean and tidy. I like a balance between socialising and quiet time to myself. My personality is generally pretty friendly and upbeat I'd like to think. I'm happy to contribute to keep a clean and tidy house, and you'll never catch me leaving my dishes unwashed. I don't have any pets but I love animals so if you have one, I'll definitely give them heaps of pats or take them on a walk. I do eat meat but don't really cook it much at home (maybe just chicken). I'm a pretty fussy eater and not really a foodie, so shared meals aren't always ideal for me but more than happy to sit down for a meal together too.
I start a new job on Jan 6th and it is work from home, although I think I should be able to organise a split between wfh and working from the office. Maybe a 2/3 day split for the week. But I would need to be able to fit a small desk and my computer in my room so I can wfh at least a few days a week. I'd need to have a decent internet connection at the house, too.

Important personal qualities
Im looking for people who are easy to get along with and considerate of other people. I enjoy the company of people who can laugh at themselves. Other than that, I am open minded. I am happy to do my share in keeping a house clean and tidy, reliable with bills and like to think I tick all the boxes that make a good housemate. :)
Food sharing and furniture
I like eating with people but am also quite fussy (there's an interesting story behind this though) so sometimes prefer to cook my own food - although people are always welcome to share it with me! I do eat meat, but I don't really cook red meat at home or eat meat every day, so I won't be roasting half an animal in the kitchen every night or anything annoying like that.
I have my own bed, desk, etc. in storage at the moment. Happy to use them, or also happy to keep them in storage for the few months I'd be living with you.
