Hi, I'm Chaeran (go by "Ray"), a 30-year-old Korean who came to Australia about 2 years ago (February 2023). I lived in Western Australia as a working holiday maker and recently moved to the Gold Coast to start my master’s degree at SCU.
Having lived in shared houses both in Korea and Australia, I understand the importance of respecting house rules and being considerate of flatmates.
At home, I mostly stay in my room to study or relax with Netflix/Youtube. I also enjoy cooking and sharing meals with others when I have the time.

Important personal qualities
I have a lot of experience living in shared houses and other types of communal living arrangements. For me, important personal qualities in a good flatmate include being considerate of others, following rules, and keeping communal spaces clean and tidy.
I also tend to be someone who likes to organize and clean my surroundings for my own peace of mind, even if no one asks me to. Once I settle down, I typically stay in one place for a long time. For example, in Western Australia, I lived in the same house for over a year and a half—longer than even the landlord! The landlord trusted me enough to give me all the keys, including to the storage areas, and I often took on the role of introducing new flatmates to the house. If needed, I can provide a reference from that landlord, who is an engineer at a mining company in WA.
In my last shared house in Korea, I was known for keeping the place very clean and tidy, so the flatmates told me it was a bit of a shame that I had to leave. (I left that share house to come to Australia.)

Food sharing and furniture
I don't mind sharing food with others—cooking is my love language, actually. Although it's possible that I may have to eat alone sometimes due to different schedules, I enjoy the social aspect of sharing meals with others.
As for my dietary preferences, I have no special restrictions, although I'm not a big fan of shellfish.

I don't have any pets of my own, but I’m happy to adore and spend time with other people's pets. I love animals (especially cats) and have no allergies.
