Home Description

Description of the home

Hey, my housemates and I are moving out of our lovely home in Northcote over the coming two months. I have three double bedrooms available in this beautiful home. I live in a warm and comfortable two storey townhouse in a quiet pocket of Northcote. I think the best feature is the open plan living/kitchen area, which has floorboards throughout and opens onto a private rear yard.

There’s also a front yard, rear double car port with a loft space above, a separate office, upstairs storage/study nook, gas cooking and split system units throughout.

The area is great! The house is 8 minutes walk to Dennis Station, 10 minutes to Westgarth station and 11 minutes to the Northcote town hall tram stop. There are also a couple of cafes close by for morning coffees.

I currently have two house mates who are moving out over Christmas. One has bought their own apartment and the other has decided it’s time to go for solo apartment living. I’m also looking to purchase my own property, so will likely be moving out in the early months of 2025. The carport will be mostly empty and will have enough space for at least one vehicle, possibly two if we move some things around.

About the occupants
Hi, I'm Mike I'll be your very temporary housemate (1 month) as I've bought an apartment and will be moving in on the 28th of Jan. I'm 37 years old and have been living in Melbourne for the past 10 years. I'm originally from New Zealand (grew up in Christchurch). I've really enjoyed getting to know Melbourne and love life here.

I work full time as a mobile app developer for a small team based in Collingwood. My bosses are pretty cool, so I'm lucky enough to have a very flexible work arrangement. I do two days work from home a week and go into the office for the remaining three to get my coffee and Banh Mi fix. My work hours are generally 9ish to 5:30ish Monday to Friday. I'm flexible with when I go to the office in Collingwood, so if there are days you'd like to use the office at home I can work around this.

In terms of my lifestyle I like exploring new cafes and bakeries. I've lived in Brunswick and Northcote most of the time I've been in Melbourne, so I've really enjoyed discovering lots of cool places in the North. I go to swing/blues dance classes on Monday nights. I also like riding my bike around and think that it's a great way to explore the city. Sometimes this will involve getting lost as I like to find new ways to get around, but I have discovered some really nice places, Merri Creek bike path, Yarra Bend Park and the Capitol City trail, to name a few.
Compatible people
As I'll be moving out at the end of Jan this is more important for the incoming housemates.
