Other information
The large, freestanding studio is situated at the rear of the property, in the backyard. It has separate access, via the driveway gate. The unfurnished space (3.7 x 6.5m) is divided by a heavy, stylish drape - into two spaces (currently set up as a bedroom and loungeroom). It also features a mezzanine area (3.7 x 3.2m), accessible by 'ladder style' stairs. Downstairs features a large IKEA shelving unit (awesome for storage / display), and can be partially furnished with sofa's and floor coverings.

Home Description

Description of the home

The large studio available to rent, is separate to the main house, with it's own access. Our home is our sanctuary. We are open-minded and socially conscious. We respect and acknowledge diversity. We aim to live sustainably and minimise our impact on the earth.

INITIAL PERIOD OF 3 MONTHS, BUT THIS WILL BE EXTENDED IF IT'S A GOOD FIT :)

RIDICULOUSLY GREAT LOCATION! The iconic South Beach is 60 seconds walk away - you can see the ocean from the house. IGA, Peaches, Woolies & all the amenities you could ask for are a short stroll. The main drag of South Freo is moments away with cafes, bars and restaurants galore. We mostly do things socially outside of the house so that we can keep our home peaceful, and calm.

The main house is a renovated, plant filled Fremantle heritage house with lots of character, high ceilings & jarrah floorboards throughout. The shared kitchen, dining, bathroom, and laundry, are fully-furnished & well-appointed with everything you may need. The bathroom has a cast-iron claw foot bath & gorgeous shower. The backyard features a massive grassy area, vege garden beds, outdoor shower (for beachy times), paved outdoor seating area, back patio and an outdoor dunny (2nd toilet). There is 'some' storage space (shed and outdoor laundry). We've also got chooks.

About occupants
Gem is in her 40's and is studying Counselling FT at university, and works from home PT. Gem attends campus a few days a week but is generally studying or working in her home office - so the house is pretty chill and a sanctuary during the semester. She loves music, art, mindfulness and meditation, quality human connection and conversation. She's pretty introverted at home and drinks lots of cups of tea. Gem likes eating stuff grown in the garden - conversely, she sometimes just mungs out with burgers or takeaway noodles. Gem values community and participates in local and alternative arts projects.

Lexie is in her early 30's, and is on a working holiday. She is active in work and play, and loves spending time at the beach across the road. She's keen for a chat when at home. Lexie works in hospo.

We love heading out & being social, outside of the house - this helps in keeping a peaceful and relaxed home. We enjoy a chat if the vibe is right - but also relish chilling with a film or a book in our own spaces and not talking to anyone. In our house we try to be environmentally responsible and live sustainably, we conserve water where we can, and minimise single-use plastics in the home.

Outside of Gem's uni semester the main house is much more open to hosting - cooking epic long-table feasts, BBQing and connecting with our mates over delicious food and drinks. The available studio space is large, so having guests over for social hangs, outside of the main house, is totally possible, during semester. It's definitely not a party house though, and generally low key vibes :)
Compatible people
The person that will rent the room will be employed and able to provide recent rental and employment references. The studio may suit an artist or creative, as can be set up as a multi-use space. Would LOVE to find someone who will contribute in the garden. There's lots of space to grow veggies. You value sustainability and treading lightly on the environment: you'll participate in mindful waste management. You are respectful of others, compassionate, a good communicator, reliable, clean and tidy - and contribute to the weekly shared household chores. You enjoy having your own space in the home. You MUST love dogs :)

Sorry - NO COUPLES.
Description of pets
Yoshi is a medium-sized 4yo Staffy X Labrador and is friendly, very affectionate and a total smoocher. She is an inside and outside dog, though won't be allowed in the studio unless you want her to. If allowed, she offers excellent dog-spoons and excels at being an emotional support dog (lol). She is dog-friendly, loves playing and beach walks and is a good guard dog if home alone. Yoshi's welfare is a top priority :)
