Ours is a 5 bedroom home. 2 bedrooms downstairs at the entrance and 3 upstairs where I live with my daughter (7 years), sharing custody of her part-time.
The space downstairs is like a little apartment of it's own. It has a lounge area, 2 bedrooms, own bathroom and toilet. The only shared space would be the kitchen upstairs. But you could also set up a kitchenette downstairs as there's a empty double garage that we don't use.
House has a huge backyard. The downstairs area (your home) has direct access to the yard. It also has doors you could close for complete privacy.
