Home Description
Description of the home
I have a room available for rent in a 2-bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment in Redfern.
$442.50 per week ($885 per fortnight), plus bills split evenly. $1,300 bond.
Move in date is Sunday 1st Dec
Would prefer someone looking to be here long term, but open to discussion if the vibe checks out! (Queer/SW/ND/poly/kink/disability friendly). Would prefer to live with women or a fellow 🌈.
The apartment has 2 bathrooms so you’d have exclusive use of the main bathroom (pictured (includes a bath 🛁)).
The apartment itself has a lovely vibe and I love the location, close to the station to get anywhere easily. The apartment complex also has a small pool and gym. It has a rooftop garden which is actually super nice and barely used. Great for a sneaky wine while watching the sunset.
Parking not included, however you may be able to rent a carspace in the underground carpark from another resident in the building (I’m pretty sure the neighbours are advertising their car space for rent right now).
Or if you have a motorbike/scooter, it can usually squeeze into one space with my car. There’s also a secure bicycle room in the building.
Definitely not a party house but friends dropping by or dinner parties are totally fine. And partners are also totally welcome as long as they don’t end up becoming another housemate 😉
Prefer to keep the place fairly clean and tidy, especially the common areas, with cleaning taken on by who ever has the time/spoons and it ends up being pretty even.
The apartment is 2 stories with both bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs and shared living spaces downstairs. Floorboards/tiles throughout. Combined open plan living/dining room with reverse cycle AC, and a cosy kitchen with limited space but it has a dishwasher and gas cooking :)
The apartment has an internal laundry with washing machine and dryer.
Location:
7 min walk to Redfern station or 10-15 min walk to central station, through Prince Alfred Park. 5-10 mins to 2x woolies or foodhall. 15 min walk to either Carriageworks (weekly farmers markets), or Broadway shopping centre. The building is on the chippo side of Redfern so only a stones throw away from the local cafes, restaurant

About me: I’m 35 year old cis lesbian woman (will be 36 in a couple of weeks), and work full time as an Auslan interpreter which is roughly 50/50 WFH and onsite at various locations, and varies day to day. I love my job and can talk your ear off about it!
Im quite social but have had a number of health issues that have slowed me down a bit and I’m a lot more of a homebody now. Cue my cottagecore lesbian era.
I’m vegan, queer, ND (ADHD), chronically ill/disabled, and a huge leftie.
I’m a big night owl & hate mornings, but will sleep through your morning routine if you’re an early bird ;)
Once I’m up & at ‘em, I enjoy going out with friends for brunch/dinner, or our regular Friday night at Beercade, chilling with some wine, going out to the theatre, art gallery, burlesque show, or queer event. I also spend time reading, playing online games, travel of course, and also the odd bush doof/burn just to mix it up a bit!
I cook to survive and not from enjoyment and order way too much Uber-eats 🙈. My bank account is advising me to cook more 😅
Have lived in share houses for many years so have all of that etiquette down, am courteous and mindful of your space and privacy but also up for chilling together of an evening or going out together occasionally.
You must be dog friendly and queer friendly, and if we have similar interests that would be great. Ideally you’re someone of a similar age or older, and not a huge party animal. I prefer to share with women or queer folk, but it’s not a deal breaker. Would be cool to share with a fellow vegan or vego too, but also not a deal breaker.
Ideally you’d be open to an occasional chat of an evening if we were both home and had spoons, while also respecting solo downtime. I’m up for a Netflix binge together, or the odd social thing like the theatre or a music gig, but not be in each others pockets all the time.
Only looking to share with one other person - No couples, no smokers
He will follow you around the house and likes to chill near you. Eddie loves to snuggle up to you on the couch (or bed) and get belly rubs.
He has a number of medical needs: he can be anxious, and has Cushings disease (plus a bunch of other medical things). He does like to make friends with other chill doggos on walks but does like being an only doggo in the house.
Would love if you’re also a dog person and are happy to help take him for walks sometimes, especially if I'm out or having medical stuff going on.
